This item was purchased at a second-hand shop several years ago.
Everything from the tsuba (hand guard) to the blade is made of metal, giving it a very substantial weight.
The tsuba also appears to be made of brass or copper.
The blade is made of zinc alloy, which seems to be a safe material that cannot be sharpened into an edge.
The tsuka-maki (handle wrapping) is also very realistic and allows for a firm grip, making it a high-quality replica.
Realistic Nichirin swords are available commercially, but they are often light and cheap... This is recommended for those who are not satisfied with those. It is as heavy as a real Japanese sword.
The paint coating seems to be quite weak and prone to chipping.
There are some minor chips.
Additionally, the clear coat has become rough, possibly due to age-related deterioration.
