Description
This is a 1996 Martin HD-28VR.

It follows pre-war specifications except for the truss rod and wood materials, featuring herringbone, a zigzag backstrip, a long saddle, diamond square inlays, open-back tuners, and an old-style logo.

The rich resonance from the forward-shifted, scalloped bracing is particularly significant for its sound. You can clearly feel the difference in sound compared to regular models.

Purchased three years ago from a specialty store in Ochanomizu.
Although there were other beautiful HD-28s available, I chose this one because, despite having its share of scratches and dings, its superior sound was clearly due to it being well-played.

The truss rod is still adjustable.

At one point, I felt the string height on the higher frets of the neck was too high, so I had it checked by a shop. They indicated a condition close to neck reset, so I had it adjusted and repaired at a workshop. The string height is now:

Approximately 2.2mm on the 6th string side at the 12th fret.
Approximately 1.8mm on the 1st string side at the 12th fret.

It has been set up for very comfortable playing.
During that repair, the nut was replaced with a new bone nut.
There appeared to be some separation in the bracing, so it was glued and repaired.
The gap caused by the shrinkage of the binding on the neck heel was filled.
Additional repairs were also performed. The frets, subjectively, have 70-80% remaining and do not hinder playing at present, but please understand that this is a used item.

There are scratches and dings from use, with the most noticeable being:
Marks on the back of the neck from capo use.
There is lacquer checking and playing scratches, but no critical damage such as holes or cracks.

The hard case is the original dedicated case from that era.
Only the handle of the internal pocket is broken, but it can be opened and closed by reinserting it.
The original warranty from when it was new, the warranty from when I purchased it, a hex wrench, a key, and the original instruction manual are included.

You can also appreciate the quality of the wood from the 90s.
The ebony is jet black, and the rosewood grain is beautiful.
The top spruce is also a beautiful wood with a tiger stripe pattern.

You can experience Martin's characteristic sparkling high frequencies and rich overtones, as well as the excellent mid-range and low-end resonance from the forward-shifted, scalloped bracing.

This is a model with a short production run.
I have priced it lower than the purchase price and market value, so please consider it. Thank you.
